Profits and Commissions

When a customer places an order, the price they pay automatically includes everything: the cost of the blank item, decoration, shipping, taxes — and your commission. You don’t need to submit separate payments, manage vendor invoicing, or manually track commission payouts. The system handles all of that.

Your commission structure (the percentage of each sale you earn) is defined by your agreement with the Site or Shop Administrator who invited you. On top of that base commission, you can optionally add a markup to increase your profit per sale.

How Commission + Markup Works

  • If your base commission rate is, for example, 30%, that represents your built-in profit share for every sale.

  • You may add a fixed or percentage-based markup at the shop level, category level, or individual product level — this markup is in addition to your base commission.

  • The final retail price presented to the customer is calculated as:
    Wholesale cost + Decoration + Shipping/Tax + Base Commission + Markup

This approach ensures you earn consistently on all orders, while giving you flexibility to price for additional profit when appropriate.

Sharing Markup: Payables & Profit Splits

If you want to share part of your markup — for example, with a client, fundraising campaign, or partner — you can use a Payable. Payables allow you to specify a percentage of your markup that goes to a designated recipient when a sale occurs.

  • Payables distribute only markup, not the base commission.

  • The rest of the markup (and base commission) continues to go to you.

  • All payouts (to you and any payables) are tracked and issued automatically at regular intervals.

This feature is useful for scenarios such as client-facing shops, group fundraisers, or revenue-sharing arrangements.

Example Scenario

  • Base commission: 30%

  • Markup added: $2 per item

  • Payable configured to receive 50% of markup

When an item sells:

  • Wholesale cost, decoration, shipping, and tax are covered automatically.

  • You receive the 30% base commission plus $1 (half of markup), because the other $1 went to the Payable.

  • All profit distributions are tracked and paid out without further manual steps.
