Understanding Product Pricing
This article explains how pricing works within your shop, including how base pricing, commission, markup, and payables interact to form the final customer-facing price.
1. Base Product Pricing (Full-Color, Fully Decorated)
Every product in the catalog has a base price that already includes:
-
Full-color, fully decorated print (no decoration fees)
-
All production and fulfillment costs
-
Built-in base commission
This means the listed base price is the complete cost of a finished product — printed, packed, and ready to ship — before any optional markup is added.
The goal is to give you a predictable retail structure without requiring you to calculate decoration or labor costs manually.

2. Base Commission (Included Automatically)
A base commission is included within the base product price. You earn this amount on every order automatically, without needing to apply markup. Commission cannot be removed or reduced.
This ensures:
-
Consistent earnings across all products
-
No need to manually adjust prices to create profit
-
Clear reporting on commission paid to you

3. Markup (Optional Extra Earnings)
Markup allows you to increase your margin beyond the included base commission. You can:
-
Add markup at the product level
-
Add markup at the department level
-
Add markup at the shop level
-
Modify markup at any time for specific programs or client needs
Markup is added on top of the fully decorated base price.

4. Payables (Profit-Sharing)
Payables are records used to distribute profit (base commission and markup) to different recipients such as your company, sales reps, clients, or fundraising partners. They control who receives what portion of the profit on each sale.
By default, the primary company payable receives 100 % of both base commission and markup until you choose to share those earnings with additional payables.
There are two main profit sources in each shop:
-
Base commission: the built-in profit on every sale
-
Markup: any additional profit added on top of base pricing
Payables allow you to split these profits in a controlled way. For example:
-
Assign a Creator Payable to share base commission and markup with an internal team member or sales rep.
-
Assign a Shop Payable to share markup with a client, fundraiser, or partner for a specific shop.
The system will never allow more than 100 % of base commission or markup to be allocated. Any unassigned portion automatically goes to the primary company payable.
You can view and manage payables and their assigned percentages from your commissions / reporting screens, and use the Sales by Payable report to see how much each payable has earned over time.

5. How Customer Pricing Is Calculated
Customer-facing retail pricing includes:
-
The base price (full-color, fully decorated product + built-in commission)
-
Any additional markup you choose to add
Retail Price = Base Price + Markup
No decoration fees, setup fees, or per-color charges are added — the product is priced as a fully finished item from the start.
6. Discounts, Volume Pricing, and Promotions
When automated discounts (such as volume tiers or Mix & Max Wholesale™) apply:
-
Discounts reduce the customer-facing retail price
-
Commission is automatically recalculated based on the discounted amount
-
Payables remain tied to the wholesale cost
This keeps your earnings accurate while still offering customer incentives.

7. Transaction Billing & Payouts
For each order:
-
The customer is charged the full retail price
-
Payables are automatically deducted
-
Commission and markup earnings accrue to your account
-
Payouts are issued based on your platform’s standard schedule (e.g., ACH, monthly)
The customer sees the site name on billing descriptors and transactional emails.
Summary
A white-label shop system uses a simplified, transparent pricing structure:
-
Base price includes full-color decoration, fulfillment, and a built-in commission
-
Markup is optional and adds additional profit
-
Customer pricing = base price + markup
-
Discounts adjust commission automatically
-
Payouts and reporting keep your earnings organized
This structure makes it easy to manage pricing, earn consistently, and offer clean, predictable product costs to customers.
